Who am I

I'm Kathleen Hall, owner of Marathon Marketing, a full-service marketing and communications
agency.

The short of it
I'm a marketing professional and copywriter with almost two decades of experience. In 1998, I
founded Marathon Marketing. Since then I've provided marketing strategy and communications
support to healthcare, business and nonprofit organizations. I live and work in Virginia, however, I
frequently escape to Maine for inspiration (thus the photos).

The long of it
In 1998, I said farewell to the corporate world and founded Marathon Marketing, a full-service
marketing and communications agency. In each of my corporate jobs, I was fortunate enough to
wear many hats—experience that has come in handy working with clients in a range of industries,
all with different needs.

Before starting my career, I earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University
of Maryland. While in college, I helped two professors with behavioral and physiological research
studies. I even performed brain surgery! Don’t worry—my subjects were rats and pigeons.

I received my MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University and eventually pursued a career that
also required brain exploration, albeit of a different type—getting into the minds of customers to
understand what’s important to them.

Today, I consult with organizations that want to focus their marketing and communications efforts
and effectively tell their story. I write marketing copy for businesses, organizations, agencies and
nonprofits, and articles for business and consumer audiences.

Writing has always been one of my passions. I started writing articles in high school for a local
newspaper and in college, I published an original research study in the scientific journal
Brain
Research
. I’ve been digging deep for important information and writing professionally for most of
my life.

I am a marathon runner—thus the name of my business. It takes focus, discipline, motivation, and
determination to run 26.2 miles and my clients deserve this same degree of passion and
dedication.

When I'm not working or running, you'll generally find me painting, reading or planning my next
trip to Maine.
